Injection mold is a manufacturing process that produces parts by injecting molten material into a mold. A variety of materials can be used for injection molding. These materials mainly include metals (the process is called die casting), glass, elastomers, candy, and the most common thermoplastic and thermosetting polymers. The material of the part is fed into a heated barrel, mixed (using spiral screws), and then injected (forced) into the cavity, where it cools and hardens the shape of the cavity. After the product is usually designed by an industrial designer or engineer, the mold maker (or tool maker) uses metal, usually steel or aluminum, to make the mold and perform precision machining to form the features of the required part. Injection molding is widely used to make a variety of parts, from the smallest components to the entire body panel of a car. Advances in 3D printing technology that use some photopolymers that do not melt during the injection molding process of lower temperature thermoplastics can be used for some simple injection molding.

The impact of injection molding product shrinkage
The shrinkage of hard rubber parts (surface shrinkage and internal shrinkage) are defects caused by the fact that when the melter cools and shrinks, the space left by the concentrated shrinkage cannot be completely replenished from the melter in the direction of the water inlet. Therefore, factors that are not conducive to shrinkage will affect us to solve the shrinkage problem.
Most people know that the mold temperature is too high without causing shrinkage problems. Usually they like to lower the mold temperature to solve the problem. But sometimes the mold temperature is too low, which is not conducive to solving the shrinkage problem, which many people have not noticed.
The mold temperature is too low, the melt cools too fast, and the thicker glue is far away from the water inlet. The middle part cools too fast and the shrinkage channel is blocked. At a distance, the melt is insufficient. In addition, this makes the shrinkage problem more difficult to solve, especially for thick injection molded parts.
Most people also know that if the temperature of the melt is too high, the injection molded parts are prone to shrinkage. If the temperature is lowered by 10-20°C, the shrinkage problem will be improved.
However, if the injection molded part shrinks in a relatively thick part, adjusting the melt temperature too low, for example, when it is close to the lower limit of the injection melt temperature, is not conducive to solving the shrinkage problem, and it will be more serious. The thicker the part, the more obvious the situation.
The reason is similar to the mold temperature is too low. Melt gel sets too fast. The large temperature difference between the shrinkage and the nozzle cannot form a large temperature difference favorable to the shrinkage. The contraction channel will be blocked prematurely. The solution to the problem becomes more difficult. It can also be seen that the faster the condensation rate of the melt, the more difficult it is to solve the shrinkage problem. PC material is a very fast setting raw material, so its shrinkage problem can be said to be the main problem of injection molding.
Secondly, too fast injection speed is not conducive to solving the serious problem of shrinkage
In order to solve the contraction problem, the first thought is to increase the injection pressure and extend the injection time. However, if the injection speed is adjusted quickly, it will not help solve the shrinkage problem. Therefore, when it is difficult to eliminate shrinkage, it should be solved by reducing the injection speed.
Reducing the injection speed will cause a larger temperature difference between the molten glue flowing between the water inlet and the water inlet, which is conducive to the solidification and shrinkage of the molten glue from the far end to the proximal end, as well as the solidification and shrinkage of the molten glue. . Going to a retracted position away from the water inlet to get a higher pressure supplement will greatly help solve the problem.
Because the injection speed decreases, the temperature of the melted glue walking in front decreases and the speed slows down. It is difficult to produce a batch front for injection molded parts, and the injection pressure and time can be increased and extended. Solve the problem of severe shrinkage.
However, it is worth reminding that the filling speed is too slow, but it is not conducive to solving the shrinkage problem. Because when the cavity is full, the melt is completely frozen, just like the melt temperature is too low, it cannot compensate for the shrinkage in distance.
